Moon Over Miami

August 10, 2008 by Research

Moon Over Miami was a 1941 film which starred Don Ameche, Carole Landis (the “Sweater girl”), Robert Cummings and pin-up girl Betty Grable.

It was a remake of a prior film titled “Three Blind Mice” and tells the story of three women who leave their dead-end jobs in a Texas greasy spoon, pool their resources and head to Miami in hopes of finding a millionaire husbands for themselves. They wind up in a fantasy hotel on the beach that portrays the allure that Miami and especially Miami Beach held with America during that period.

Moon Over Miami’s storyline would be remade again as “Three Little Girls In Blue” and once again as “How To Marry A Millionaire.”

It is filmed in beautiful Technicolor and is currently available in Fox’s “Marquee Musicals” DVD edition.
