Nikko, The Trip Beautiful

August 16, 2008 by Research

The Nikko was a sightseeing tour boat that operated from the lagoon across from the Roney Plaza Hotel at 24th and Collins Avenue during the 1940s and 50s. The tour departed three times each day and sailed north up Indian Creek then crossed over into Biscayne Bay at La Gorce Island. From there it sailed south between Belle Isle and Rivo Alto, then between Hibiscus and Palm Islands, passed Star Island, then back to the Roney via the North Bay Road route. The tour cost $1.
